Cannery, Bowman, Georgia, 1983
Community canneries were an important part of rural life; many were built after WWII, so I read. I never saw this one in operation. By the time I became aware of it, my family had a freezer, and that replaced the need for pressure canning for us. This photograph was super creepy for me, looking more like where a low-budget horror film might be made.
