Dr. Dooley’s Dentist Office
Dr. Dooley’s dentist office was on the second floor of the clothing store next to the studio I had opened in 1974, when I was just seventeen. One day, Mr. Veal, owner of the clothing store, asked me if I wanted to see something. He took me up the creaking wooden stairs to the second floor, where he showed me Dr. Dooley's abandoned office. Dr. Dooley, by then too old to practice, had abandoned everything. It was so creepy to me that I knew I had to photograph it. I borrowed a very wide-angle lens from a friend to take this photograph.
